Michael Little is a native Texan who ended up living
in Hawaii, where folks are just as friendly and the sky is just
as blue, although there are not as many cattle or horned toads.
He stayed in school as long as he could, until the University of
Delaware gave him a Ph.D. in English and kicked him out of the nest.
Somewhere along the way he started going to Reno every year for
rodeo week. Queen of the Rodeo is the
result, published in 2001 by Triple Tree Publishing.
Michael served for three years as President of the
Aloha Chapter of the Romance Writers of
America, which apparently welcomes cowboys as well as cowgirls.
He is currently Publications Officer of the chapter, editing its
Words of Paradise newsletter and maintaining the
chapter web site.
He was one of the editors of Strong Currents,
an anthology of stories, poems, and essays by Hawaii writers published
in 2002 by the Aloha Chapter, with net proceeds going to Hawaii
Literacy, Inc.
Michael is also a member of Bamboo Ridge
Press, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2003. He
served on the planning committee for the third Bamboo Ridge Writers
Institute (October 23, 2004, at the University of Hawaii). Michael
led a workshop with Kate Godwin entitled "Good Beginnings,"
on writing and rewriting strong openings.
Current writing projects include Cowgirls
and Horny Toads (a sequel to Queen of the Rodeo)
and a series of short stories set in Hawaii, including "Walter!
Walter!" (winner of the 2002 Honolulu Magazine
Fiction Contest). "Walter! Walter!" has
also been anthologized in the Bamboo Ridge 25th Anniversary Issue
(September 2004). |
